11 people kidnapped by Ladi Gang in DG Khan
DERA GHAZI KHAN: Eleven tribesmen of Jiani tribe were kidnapped by Ladi Gang from the jurisdictions of Kot Mubarak area on Thursday.
Sources alleged Jiani Khosa tribesmen were busy in the burial of their relative when gangsters of Ladi Gang kidnapped at least 11 of them from the graveyard.
Those kidnapped included Riaz, the son of Siddique, Rashid, son of Raheem Bakhsh, Parwaiz, Javed, Adnan, son of Khalid, Ibraheem, son Khameesa, Ejaz, son of Sultan, Ehsan, son of Karim Bakhsh and Asif, son of Atta. They snatched four motorcycles from the graveyard of Haranwala, six kilometers from the boundary of the tribal area, located in the vicinity of Kot Mubarak Police Station.
Dera Ghazi Khan District Police Officer (DPO) Ahmad Mohyuddin told Dawn cause of kidnapping was an old enmity. However, an elder of Khosa tribe said there was no old enmity between the Jiani tribe and Ladi Gang and the latter had abducted the tribesmen for ransom.
The DPO said these tribesmen were kidnapped from the boundary of the tribal area while contrary to his claims, political assistant to tribal area Asad Chandia claimed Ladi Gang had kidnapped 11 people from the settled area in the jurisdictions of a police station.
On other hand, the Ladi and Chakrani gangs have made law enforcement agencies helpless in Dera Ghazi Khan. They have more sophisticated arms compared to the weapons of the Punjab Police and Border Military Police.
An official of the law enforcement agencies told Dawn the Punjab Police and Border Military Police needed extra resources to combat these hardened criminals. The Chakrani Gang had frequently been targeting two cement factories in DG Khan. He said the outlaws would commit crime in the settled area and disappear in the mountainous terrain.
Earlier, they had damaged the installations, suspended electricity supply and interrupted the transport system of the DG Khan Cement Factory and the Fauji Cement.
An official told Dawn on condition of anonymity that the ‘questionable’ role of the Border Military Police (BMP) had been one of the major reasons for the criminal activities.
