Poll security measures reviewed
KARACHI: Inspector General of Sindh Police Riffat Mukhtar Raja has reviewed security arrangements for the Feb 8 elections and asked police authorities to ensure implementation of a ban on carrying and displaying arms across the province.
Chairing a meeting here, he called for strengthening arrangements for maintaining peace and order in the city in view of recent violent incidents.
He said any information about even a minor incident should not be ignored and a timely follow-up action should be taken to prevent any untoward situation.
He called for an increasing intelligence network at polling stations and surrounding areas.
The IGP said that patrolling, random snap-checking of vehicles, reconnaissance and monitoring of areas should be enhanced.
