Suspect held, booked for killing judge’s son in DHA
KARACHI: A son of a retired police officer was on Friday arrested and booked for killing his friend, who is a son of serving district and sessions judge, in Defence Housing Authority, police said.
DIG-South Syed Asad Raza said that Ali Keerio, in his early 20s, was gunned down allegedly by his friend Daniyal Nazeer Mirbahar, who was in police custody.
He said that the Darakshan police registered a murder case against the held suspect on the complaint of the victim’s cousin.
The police said that the victim was a son of District and Sessions Judge (South) Javaid Ahmed Keerio.
According to the FIR, complainant Shahbaz Alam stated that he was present at his cousin’s residence in judges’ colony in Bath Island on Thursday when a person, Ali Qasim, informed him that Daniyal Nazeer shot at and wounded his cousin Ali after an ‘exchange of hot words’ at his residence in DHA, Phase-V.
The injured youth was initially taken to a private hospital in Clifton where he was pronounced dead, he said, adding that the body was later taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.
Police Surgeon Summaiya Syed said that the youth had suffered a single bullet wound in the chest.
Meanwhile, the routine proceedings at the City Courts were disrupted on Friday following the tragic death of a son of DJ SOuth. The Karachi Bar Association (KBA) also appealed the judiciary against passing any adverse orders against litigants during this period of mourning.
