Missing man found dead, woman injured in accidental fire

TAXILA: The body of an elderly man, who went missing two days ago, was recovered in a village while a woman sustained a bullet injury in an accidental fire at her house in Attock on Tuesday, police and rescue sources said.

Hussain Gul, 65, had gone missing in the Chabb area of Jand where his body was recovered from a pond.

According to Rescue 1122, its staff retrieved the body from the 200 metre-deep well and shifted it to the tehsil headquarters hospital.

In the second incident, a 25-year-old woman sustained a bullet injury in village Brayair in the limits of Hazro police. Police said Zameer was cleaning his pistol when it accidentally went off and the bullet hit his wife. The injured was taken to the tehsil headquarters hospital where her condition was stated to be out of danger.

Suspects nabbed

Police in Attock arrested a murder and an attempted murder suspects.

According to a spokesman, Hassanabdal police arrested a man who had allegedly shot dead his wife over a family dispute in the Patahargarh area.

Mohammad Adnan had contracted marriage with the woman a few months ago but differences developed between the couple and she went to her parents’ house.

Adnan went to her house for reconciliation and during a meeting shot his wife dead and fled. On Tuesday, the police traced the suspect and arrested him.

Separately, Hassanabdal police arrested a suspected highway robber allegedly involved in looting dumper drivers.

Police said the suspect identified as Shahzad Ahmed was allegedly involved in looting truck and dumper drivers bringing stone crush from Patahargarh. On Tuesday, police arrested him red-handed, recovered a pistol and looted valuables from him.

In another incident, Hazro police arrested a man for attempting to kill his brother-in-law over a family dispute.
