Ex-minister Atif gets bail in four cases
MARDAN: PTI leader and MNA-elect Mohammad Atif Khan obtained bails in four cases from three different courts here on Thursday.
The bails were granted by a district and sessions court, anti-corruption court and anti-terrorism court until Feb 19.
On Feb 13, the PTI leader moved the Peshawar High Court to get protective bail in cases registered against him by authorities.
The high court directed him to surrender to the relevant courts for bail in those cases.
Mr Atif went there after remaining in hiding for nine months.
The PTI leader told reporters after getting bails that the cases registered against him and other party activists were false and therefore, they all were moving courts of law to get them quashed.
He claimed that after taking oath as MPAs, the PTI-backed candidates would “try their best” to secure bail for detained PTI founder Imran Khan in cases registered against him.
Mr Atif also said efforts would be made for the transfer of cases against PTI leaders and workers from the military courts to civilian ones. He alleged that the Feb 8 general elections were rigged.
The PTI leader demanded of the chief election commissioner to order inquiries into alleged election rigging and ensure early announcement of “correct poll results” to strengthen democracy.
He also appealed to the superior judiciary to take action over rigging.
