Wapda chief wants work on two dams expedited
GILGIT: Wapda Chairman retired Lt Gen Sajjad Ghani has issued orders to accelerate the construction work on Diamer Bhasha Dam and Dasu Hydropower Project and ensure their completion as per the agreed timeline.
The Wapda chairman issued these directions during his visits to the construction sites on Monday.
At the Diamer Bhasha Dam site, Mr Ghani reviewed the construction work on left and right abutments of the dam, diversion canal, guide wall, upstream and downstream coffer (temporary) dams and permanent bridge.
The Diamer Bhasha Dam Company CEO, project director/general manager, consultants and contractors were present on the occasion.
Construction work is being carried out on 13 key sites of the project. A permanent bridge, along with an approach road downstream of the main dam, will be completed by June.

During his visit to the Dasu Hydropower Project site, the Wapda head witnessed construction activities at the under-ground power house and transformer cavern, left abutment and upstream coffer (temporary) dam.
The project’s general manager and other officials briefed the chairman on the ongoing excavation and support work at the powerhouse, transformer cavern, and left and right abutments of the dam.
