Revenue collection rises 23pc in Punjab

LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) on Monday reported that its collections rose year-on-year 22.43 per cent to Rs19.1 billion in February.

A PRA spokesperson said the authority has been assigned a Rs240bn target for 2023-24, which is expected to be achieved through a multi-pronged strategy of taxpayers’ facilitation and education, stakeholders’ inclusion, effective use of information technology duly augmented by enforcement activities.

It collected Rs201.5bn in FY23, exceeding the projected target of Rs190bn.

The PRA spokesperson stated that the authority was contributing over 66pc of the entire source revenue of the province through collecting sales tax on services, Punjab Infrastructure Development Cess and Punjab Workers’ Welfare Fund.
