Ex-Passco official pays no heed to notices

ISLAMABAD: Despite several notices, the former MD of Pakistan Agriculture Storage and Services Corporation (Passco) has ignored the PM’s Inspection Commission’s (PMIC) call for an in-person hearing on damage to wheat worth Rs4 billion.

The notices forwarded to the former MD Passco were based on documents presented to the NA Standing Committee on Food Security, indicating that over 52,670 metric tonnes of wheat stocks had been damaged in the floods in Sindh and Balochistan due to torrential rains and floods in July and August 2022.

The PMIC has been unable to record the statement of Capt (retd) Saeed Ahmad Nawaz as he did not respond to the queries, nor did he show up at the scheduled hearing dates. When Capt Nawaz was contacted by Dawn, he declined to discuss the matter over the phone.
