Boy ‘flying kite’ falls to his death from house’s rooftop
TOBA TEK SINGH: A minor boy lost his life after he fell down from the rooftop of a house while flying a kite at Chak 68-GB, Ramgarh, on Satiana Road,Jaranwala on Sunday.
Rescue 1122 officials say that seven-year-old Subhan Ali (7), son of Arshad was flying a kite on the rooftop of his house when he lost his balance and fell down.
They say the child instantly succumbed to his critical injuries.
However, in a press release, Faisalabad city police spokesperson claimed that the child who died at Jaranwala after falling from the rooftop was not flying a kite.
He said the victim’s father, Arshad, has said in his statement to police that his son was playing on the rooftop of the house and was not flying a kite when the incident occurred.
Punjab government has banned kite-flying and strict action is taken against the local police if this activity is traced in their jurisdiction.
ARRESTED: Gojra city police arrested on Sunday a lecturer of the the local government postgraduate college on the charge of torturing a first-year student.
In the first information report (FIR), complainant Muhammad Yasin, a resident of Chak 369
JB, Jodhanagri, alleged that his grandson Tayyab was present in the college with his friends when the suspect lecturer, Muhammad Faryad, attacked and injured him due to unknown reasons.
The police took action against the lecturer when a video clip of the incident was uploaded on social media.
WOMAN MURDERED: A man and his family members allegedly tortured his wife to death and later hanged her body from a ceiling fan to make it look like a case of suicide at Chak 310-JB, Gojra.
Faisalabad’s Sajid Ali claimed in the FIR registered by Gojra Sadar police that the suspect, Sajjad Ahmad, was married to his (complainant’s) sister, Yasmin Bibi.
He alleged that Sajjad and his family members had a dispute with Yasmin and they would often subjected her to physical torture.
On Sunday, the suspect tortured Yasmin so badly that she succumbed to her internal injuries, he added.
He said that fearing arrest, the suspects hanged Yasmin’s body from a ceiling fan to portray her death as suicide.
Acting on the complaint, the police arrested Sajjad and other suspects.
COP INJURED: A police constable was critically wounded allegedly in the firing by a drug peddler during a raid near Chak 488-GB, Faisalabad on Sunday.
As per the FIR registered by Mureedwala police under sections 324, 353, 186 and 34 of the PPC and section 9(1) of The Control of Narcotic Substances Act 1997, complainant ASI Zafar Khaliq said police conducted a raid to arrest two drug peddlers.
During the raid, he said, one of the wanted suspects, Haq Nawaz, opened fire on the policemen.
As a result, a bullet hit Constable Kashif Raza, who was seriously injured and was shifted to the DHQ hospital. The attacker fled away, while the police arrested the other suspect, Gul Muhammad.
