Football tournament concludes in Kohat

KOHAT: The first All Pakistan Departmental Football Tournament concluded at the Kohat Sports Complex here on Monday.

The regional sports office in collaboration with a coal mining company organised the event.

Football teams from Balochistan, Sindh, Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Islamabad participated in the tournament.

The final match of the tournament was played between Chapman and Islamabad teams. The former won the final by three to one goals.

Regional sports officer Sajid Afridi was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony.

Haji Yousaf Afridi, managing director of the coal company, Mohibullah Shinwari, secretary general of the football association, Kohat, and a large number of fans were present on the occasion.

Speaking on this occasion, Sajid Afridi said sporting events were being organised under the provincial government’s policy of promoting healthy activities among youth.

He said sports were indispensable for healthy minds, and keeping the youth from the menace of drug addiction.

“For mental and physical nourishment, holding sporting events is the need of the hour,” he said.

Later, he gave away trophies and cash prizes to the winning and the runner-up teams.

PRICE LIST: The local food authorities on Monday issued a price list of various eatables for Ramazan after negotiations with the traders.

The food controller fixed price of red beans at Rs400 per kilogramme, black gram at Rs350 per kg, red lentil at Rs305 per kg, chickpea Rs350 per kg, rice from Rs150 to Rs295 per kg, spices Rs750 per kg, mutton Rs1,800 per kg and meat of calf at Rs750 per kg.

It was reported that the traders managed to get rates of food items fixed on their own terms in total disregard to the interests of consumers.

However, the district administration said profiteers would be fined and sent behind bars.
