Utility stores offer subsidy on 19 items

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Utility Stores Corporation (USC) has offered subsidy on 19 essential items in Dera Ismail Khan and Tank under prime minister’s Ramazan relief package.

USC regional manager Tahir Yar Khan told journalists that 19 essential items were being provided to people at subsidised prices at 58 utility stores, four mobile stores and two sale points.

He said that 53 utility stores in Dera Ismail Khan and five in Tank were providing relief to people. He said people should get themselves registered with Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) at a counter set up at a utility store situated near Siraj Medical Complex to get the relief.

Moreover, he said the four mobile stores would benefit people in a 30 kilometer radius while two sale points were set up at HassaThoyaSial area and near Siraj Medical complex.

SECURITY: Tank police on Tuesday devised a security plan to ensure peace during the holy month of Ramazan.

In this regard, a meeting of station house officers (SHOs) of various police stations and heads of checkposts was held to ensure the implementation of the security plan in letter and spirit.

Chairing the meeting, DSP Sharifullah Khan Kundi said that all out efforts should be made to implement the plan for maintenance of peace and curbing crime rate in Ramazan.

SHOs were directed to increase vigilance and enforce the plan effectively. Additional police personnel will be deployed at markets, squares and other crowded places to facilitate people in their shopping and ensure smooth flow of traffic.

Arrangements have also been made to enhance patrolling around mosques.

Meanwhile, the district administration of Tank on Tuesday arrested two butchers and sealed their shops during a crackdown on profiteers.

The arrested butchers were accused of violating official price list. Officials said that crackdown on profiteers would continue. They urged people to identify profiteers in their areas and inform administration.
