Govt lauded for compensating rain victims in Chitral
CHITRAL: The president of Lower Chitral chapter of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Advocate Abdul Wali Khan, has said that the people of Chitral have always got a preferential treatment in relief and development whenever Sharif brothers have assumed power in Islamabad.
He said that rain-affected people were compensated by the federal government within a week. He distributed compensation money among the people of Chitral affected by the recent snowfall in the office of deputy commissioner here on Saturday.
He said that Mian Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shehbaz Sharif were considerate to the residents of the area on whom they bestowed lavishly whenever in power. He said that the affected people were receiving compensation cheques under the prime minister’s relief package in a record period of seven days.
“It is the characteristic of only Sharif brothers, who are men of action instead of indulging in lip service,” said Mr Khan. He recalled that in 2016, thousands of the earthquake survivors got compensation cheques within a fortnight’s time as the then prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif released a huge amount of Rs2 billion after visiting the area ravaged by the quake.
He said while allocating resources for relief and development, the Sharif brothers did not care whether PML-N had been voted by the people of the area or not. “It is evident from the fact that in the February 8 elections, no candidate of PML-N returned to the national or provincial assembly from Chitral,” he added.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Anwar Akbar and Assistant Commissioner Dr Mohammad Atif Jalib were also present on the occasion.
