Protest held in Nawabshah over ‘police excesses’ against slain JSQM man’s family
NAWABSHAH: Activists of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) held a protest demonstration outside the local press club on Sunday against “arrest and manhandling” of their slain party colleague’s family members by police.
Speaking to the participants, Muneer Abro, Irfan Abro, Asad Bhutto and others condemned the police for manhandling and arresting slain JSQM activist Hiayat Luhar’s two daughters, Sassui Luhar and Sorath Luhar, along with other family members and party activists, to break up their peaceful demonstration, which was held recently to demand arrest of his killers.
They described the police action as ‘terrorism’ and demanded action against those policemen involved in this ‘shameful act’. They also demanded immediate release of all arrested people.
Participants of the demonstration, waving party flags, raised slogans against the Nawabshah police for their excesses against the victim’s family instead of arresting his killers.
They deplored that the family had been subjected to harassment by police ever since Hidayat Luhar, a teacher by profession, had been killed.
