UBL employees: Hundreds of United Bank employees on Monday staged a demonstration to pressure administration for acceptance of their demands, including raise in their salary package.
The employees, who gathered in front of the bank’s regional office, were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against anti-labour laws. They also chanted slogans against bank administration.
The union leaders complained that there was a disparity in the salaries of employees having equal qualification and experience, alleging that those having affiliation with administration were being paid more.
They demanded that the employees’ salaries be revised after every two years as they had not been given any pay raise since 2001. They also sought an increase in the retired employees’ pension.
