DG Khan hospital getting measles cases daily
DERA GHAZI KHAN: As the Dera Ghazi Khan area has been in the throes of measles since February, the doctors have urged the people to get their children vaccinated against the disease.
The children wards at the Allama Iqbal Teaching Hospital of Ghazi Medical College, Dera Ghazi Khan, have been on high alert since February 2024 due to the influx of measles patients. According to sources, the hospital has been receiving at least 10 children with measles daily since February.
Dr Shakeel Leghari, the in charge of the children’s wards of the hospital, said about 30 children were currently undergoing treatment at two children’s wards. He urged the parents to ensure timely vaccination for their children to save them from measles.
Dr Abdul Rehman Amir Qaisrani, the newly appointed medical superintendent, highlighted the importance of vaccination to prevent the spread of measles among children.
The measles cases were coming more from rural, tribal, and urban areas, he said.
