Four arrested for boy’s gang-rape

BAHAWALPUR: Six boys allegedly gang-raped a boy and recorded the heinous act in Dunyapur, Lodhran.

On the survivor’s father complaint, the police arrested four of them. Allegedly, the victim was lured to a secluded area where he was subjected to physical and sexual assault and filmed.

The suspects then threatened to circulate the footage on social media if he sought police action. The suspect was treated at the Dunyapur THQ Hospital and initial medical report confirmed the slot.

IUB: The 56th meeting of Islamia University of Bahawalpur’s (IUB’s) academic council, chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Naveed Akhtar, discussed enhancing academic integrity.

The council approved the reconstitution of the university’s anti-plagiarism standing committee and adopted an updated anti-plagiarism committee vision. Also, the meeting approved revisions to the syllabi of BS Biomedical Engineering and BS Electrical Engineering Technology.

Students with FSC pre-medical qualifications have been granted admission to the BS Electrical Engineering Technology programme.

The council also sanctioned revisions to the MS Information Technology syllabus and the admission policy for the Bachelor of Architecture 5-year program in compliance with architecture council guidelines.

ACCIDENTS: Two road accidents in Bahawalpur and Lodhran resulted in five fatalities, including three minors and a mother.

Near the Sutlej bridge in Bahawalpur, a speeding trailer collided with a motorcycle, claiming the lives of Mehnaz Bibi (45) and her children - Muzamil (7), Mudassir (4), and Tanzeela (2) - while leaving her husband, Muhammad Iqbal (45), critically injured.

The Sadar police arrested the trailer driver while the injured was shifted to Bahawal Victoria Hospital.

In Lodhran, pedestrian Manzoor Shah (61) died after being struck by a car near Kahrrepucca bus stand on Mailsi Road.

The driver was taken into custody by the police. The body was shifted for further proceedings at Kehror Pacca THQ Hospital.
