Late National Party leader Mukhtar Bacha hailed

QUETTA: A condolence reference was held on Sunday to commemorate the political struggle of veteran politician Mukhtar Bacha, who died earlier this month.

Mr Bacha, 80, was a progressive politician and one of the key leaders of National Party (NP). He headed the party’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter till 2017 and was a central committee member at the time of his death.

The condolence reference, organised by NP at Quetta Press Club, was led by the party’s central president, Dr Abdul Malik Baloch.

Former senators Afrasiab Khattak, Bushra Gohar, Hazara Democratic Party’s Qadir Nayal, NP leader Jan Muhammad Buledi, and a large number of party workers were in the attendance.

The participants paid tribute to Mr Bacha’s long struggle and sacrifices for the rights of underprivileged segments of society.

They said the late politician spent his entire life struggling for the rights of poor people, upholding democracy and rule of law and the Constitution.

“Bacha will always be remembered for his great struggle and sacrifices,” Dr Baloch said while paying tribute to the late leader. He said his death left a big void in the country’s progressive politics.

Dr Baloch said a joint political struggle was needed to secure Balochistan’s legitimate rights and that people should take to the streets to protest the government’s “illegal actions.”
