PESCO REPRIMANDED: MNA Shehryar Afridi on Monday directed the officials of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company to replace the obsolete transformers, avoid inflated billing and prolonged loadshedding in summer months.

Speaking to officials of the district administration and Pesco in the office of the deputy commissioner here, he ordered the officials to find an amicable solution to the loadshedding issue. He also ordered early repair of Barh area feeder, which supplies electricity to 24 villages.

MPA Daud Khan Afridi was also present on the occasion.

Mr Shehryar said Pesco had been resorting to 22 hours of loadshedding in Barh area, angering the people into boycotting the polio campaigns.

The MNA also directed the Pesco officials to trim the tree branches entangling the transmission lines, causing tripping during strong winds and rains.

Meanwhile, in-charge judge Mohammad Asim Imam and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Right to Information (RTI) Act commissioner Zakir Hussain have stressed the need that all government departments are bound to provide notified details in due time to applicants seeking information about their working.

Speaking at a meeting held here on Monday, they warned that officials refusing to give information to people could invite punishment under the Act.

They regretted that complaints were being lodged with them about non-cooperation of the officials, and urged the officials of police, district administration, communication and works, public health engineering, health, education departments, etc to provide requisitioned information to the citizens.

Deputy commissioner Dr Azmatullah Wazir, district police officer Umer Khan and others were also in attendance.
