Ex-minister in Naushahro Feroze booked for ‘attempting to occupy brother’s property’

NAWABSHAH: Naushahro Feroze police on Tuesday booked a former minister of state and leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Syed Asghar Ali Shah, and others on charges of house trespass, assault and attempting to occupy haveli of his brother illegally.

Yasir Ali Solangi, a servant at the haveli of Syed Ibrahim Shah, stated in an FIR lodged under Sections 337-A1, F1, 452, 506/2, 114, 147, 148, 149, 504 PPC at Tharu Shah police station that he along with Ghulam Abbas Siyal and Bakht Ali were repairing courtyard wall of the haveli when the accused Nadeem Mirjat, Gulzar Sodhar, Farzand Siyal, Manthar Marri along with Syed Asghar Ali Shah barged into the haveli, hurled abuses at them and threatened them to stop the wall’s construction.

He said that the accused claimed the haveli was property of Syed Asghar Ali Shah, issued them death threats, beaten them up with iron rods and escaped.

The complainant stated that he obtained a medical certificate from government hospital and then approached police for registration of the case.

Syed Asghar Ali Shah, also a candidate of PML-N for NA-205 in Feb 8 general elections and lost to Syed Abrar Shah of Pakistan Peoples Party, told journalists that his younger brother wanted to encroach upon his haveli. When they were stopped from carrying out the illegal construction work, they registered a fake case against him with the support of his political opponents, he said.
