Three killed over old enmity in Charsadda

CHARSADDA: Three persons were killed and one was injured when their rivals opened indiscriminate firing on their car near Charsadda Motorway Interchange in the limits of Parang police station here on Wednesday.

Injured Yasir, a resident of Tarangzai, told police that he and his brother Hamid were going to Peshawar in their car along with Tariq and Shayan after appearing in a local court at judicial complex in Charsadda.

He said that Alamzeb, Hasnain, Umar, Abu Bakr and Sajid, who were chasing their car, opened firing on them near the Jaindi River when they reached near the interchange. He said that Tariq, Hamid and Shayan were killed in the attack while he himself got injuries. He said the motive behind the incident was old enmity.

FESTIVAL: The district administration and sports department jointly organised a sports festival at sub-jail Charsadda here on Wednesday.

The event was inaugurated by the district sports officer, Mishal Malik, and the superintendent of sub-jail, Syed Mohammad Salman. Prisoners participated in various games including musical chairs, sack race, food competition and ludo.

Shoaib secured first position and Adeel was runner up I musical chairs. In the competition among police personnel, Sajaul defeated Jamal Shah. In sack race, Amaan defeated Bilal while Irfan won first position in food competition.

In the competition among police, Fazil secured the first position. In ludo games, Tahir Khan secured first position while Waseem Adeel won cultural games.

The assistant commissioner, Alvina Faiz, along with Syed Mohammad Salman, Peshawar regional sports officer Kashif Farhan, district sports officer Mishal Malik, former DSO Tahseenullah and assistant sports officer Irshad Khan distributed prizes among the players.

Speaking on the occasion, Alvina Faiz appreciated the district sports officer for organising the festival for prisoners. She said that sports provided entertainment opportunities to prisoners.

The prisoners also appreciated the initiative by the sports department and said that such events should be organised in the future. They said that such events left a positive impact on their mind.
