Drug peddler jailed for four years

TAXILA: The Control of Narcotics Substances Court (CNS) sentenced an accused to four years of imprisonment and imposed a fine on him in a drug peddling case.

Mohammad Asif was arrested by Jand police in August 2022 in a case registered under the Control of Narcotics Substances Act 1997 after the recovery of hashish and opium from his custody.

The judge, after hearing the arguments of defence and prosecution counsel, announced the verdict and awarded four-year imprisonment and a fine worth Rs20,000.

During the proceedings, the public prosecutor for the state argued that the accused was caught red-handed while selling contraband, and evidence on record fully proved he was guilty.
