SSGC awaits Rs757m for shifting of gas lines on Malir Expressway

KARACHI: The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has not been paid yet a sum of Rs757.03 million required for relocation of three high pressure gas transmission pipelines along the Malir Expressway, the company said on Monday.

“Like all public utility companies, SSGC too is playing its part in making this expansive project a major convenience for the commuters,” said a spokesperson for the SSGC.

The primary role of the gas utility was the relocation of three high pressure gas transmission pipelines, he said, adding that as per an agreement, the SSGC had submitted the cost estimate of Rs757.03m in March after completing all engineering design and groundwork for the relocation of pipelines.

“The Malir Expressway administration would be entitled to make payment to the SSGC, which the gas utility has to receive so that the project can be executed on time,” the spokesperson added.

Moreover, SSGC has demarcated the land for the relocation project for Malir Expressway to initiate the land purchase for the relocation of the pipelines. The payment of relocation cost by the concerned authorities will ensure that the grand project is completed within stipulated targeted timelines.
