Assembly seeks LPG plants, health budget hike in Balochistan

QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly on Monday passed resolutions seeking the installation of LPG plants in districts with no natural gas supply facility and an increase in health department’s budget in accordance with the NFC Award.

Mir Asadullah Baloch of the Balochistan National Party (BNP-Awami) proposed the installation of LPG plants. He said only two per cent of Balochistan’s population was using natural gas and the rest were deprived of gas facilities.

Load-shedding was also done in areas where natural gas is provided and the provincial government should talk to the federal government for installation of LPG plants.

After discussion, the assembly passed the resolution.

National Party MPA Mir Khair Jan Baloch presented a resolution stressing the need for improving the health sector in far-flung areas of the province.

He said the major reason for the health sector’s decline was the shortage of funds and, therefore, adequate money should be allocated annually for the procurement of medicines in accordance with the NFC Award.

MPA Rehmat Saleh Baloch said after the NFC Award, all departmental budgets have been increased and the health department also needed additional funds.

JUI-F lawmaker Ghulam Dastagir Badini said life-saving medicines should be available in emergency departments of the province’s hospitals.

The provincial minister for planning assured the house that he was ready to bring reforms in the health department.
