Student councils office bearers take oath

LAHORE: As many as 61,212 newly elected office bearers of student councils in public schools of the province took oath of their offices on Thursday.

Punjab School Education Department (SED) organised oath taking ceremonies at selected schools in each district and tehsils during morning assembly of the schools.

Deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners and District Education Authority chief executive officers graced the ceremonies as guests.

Around 3.47 million students elected their respective presidents, vice -presidents, general and finance secretaries and class representatives in 15,303 middle and high schools of the province.

SED officials said the councils would enable students to become national and provincial leaders in future and equip themselves to identify and solve their problems effectively.

They said these councils were seen as a platform to promote democratic values, preserve good traditions, and provide opportunities for children to move forward in life through co-curricular activities.
