Seven of a family hurt in gas cylinder blast
KARACHI: Seven members of a family suffered burn wounds in a gas cylinder explosion that took place in their Soldier Bazaar home on Saturday morning.
Police and hospital officials said that the condition of two victims was critical.
Soldier Bazaar SHO Chaudhry Aqeel said that the explosion took place when Rabia, 40, lit a match to turn on the gas stove at around 7:15am.
As a result, Rabia, 40, her husband, Moosa, 49 and their five children —Naveed, 14, Rafiq, 10, Nasreen, 11, Roshni, 15 and Gulshan, 17 — suffered burn wounds.
They were shifted to the Burns Centre of the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment.
Police Surgeon Summaiya Syed said that two persons were discharged after first medical treatment while five others were admitted for treatment.
She said the condition of Rafiq and Moosa was serious as they had suffered 89 per cent and 55pc burns. Rabia, Nasreen and Naveed suffered 33pc, 31pc and 29pc burns.
