Youm-i-Takbeer rallies taken out in garrison city

RAWALPINDI: Youm-i-Takbeer was observed on the anniversary of the nuclear tests conducted by Pakistan with holding of rallies by government departments and political parties here on Tuesday.

Pakistan Central Muslim League held a Takbeer conference at Liaquat Bagh which was attended by people from the garrison city and adjoining areas.

Speaking on the occasion, PCML Islamabad zone President Chaudhry Shafiqur Rehman said there were threats to the nuclear programme of the country and we have to join hands to make the country stronger.

He said people who worked from the beginning to the completion of the nuclear programme were our heroes and a source of pride.

He said on May 28, 1998, Pakistan emerged on the map of the world as the first Muslim nuclear power. This day is a source of pride and honour for the nation, he added.

The district administration also organised at rally at Kutchery Chowk which was led by Deputy Commissioner Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema. People from all walks of life participated in the rally in a large number. Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that on May 28 the defence system of the country was made stronger.

“Today we have to salute the heroes who played a role in making Pakistan a nuclear power. The nation is proud of its heroes who have rendered their services for the security of the country,” he said.

Another rally was organised by Parks and Horticulture Authority led by its Director General Ahmed Hassan Ranjha.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ranjha said the aim of the rally to pay tribute to the Pakistani scientists and those who played a role to make the country a nuclear power.
