Minister opens solarisation project at hospital

CHARSADDA: Provincial health minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah inaugurated a 250-kilowatt solarisation project at the Women and Children Hospital here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the project was completed at cost of Rs68 million with the support of Unicef to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the maternity and neonatal care wards, as well as the oxygen plant of the hospital.

MPA Iftikharullah, director general health Dr Mohammad Saleem, additional director general Dr Shahid Younis, district health offi cer and chief of Unicef Peshawar Mr Radoslaw Rzehak were present at the ceremony.

Speaking to the media after the ceremony, the minister highlighted the signifi cance of the project, emphasising that it was not only crucial for the healthcare sector but also a vital step towards acquiring green energy in the context of climate change. He said solarisation of hospitals would help address the energy crisis and meet the challenges posed by climate change.

Mr Shah said improving healthcare facilities in Charsadda would help reduce the burden on hospitals in Peshawar.
