Hunger is a bad companion

This is concerning the story “Hunger is a bad companion” by Hafsa Ansari (YW, April 13). There are hundreds of people around us who struggle to live a decent life.

The story showed a sad reality where many people have not enough food or are often living hungry. But it also offered a positive solution when a concerned girl helped the deserving elderly couple. We should be aware of the people living around us, who knows we are the source of happiness for many.

Animals are living beings too!

I agree with the idea of animal sanctuaries as mentioned in the article “Animals are living beings too!” by Crystal Maria Pereira.

Animals should live healthy lives in sanctuaries instead of being kept in cages like in traditional zoos. The government needs to take action against zoos where safety and health rules are often ignored.

This is concerning the article “Animals are living beings too!” by Crystal Maria Pereira “(YW, April 9). We enjoy visiting the zoo to see animals. We like watching them eat, sleep, play and move around in their enclosures, but we don’t often think about what happens to them afterward.

Do they receive proper care? Are they able to roam freely like they would in the wild? The writer suggested the idea of animal sanctuaries where animals can live freely in their natural habitats, without being confined to cages. And I think we, the young generation, should highlight the issue more on social media so that it becomes necessary for the government to implement it.

My new roommate

This is regarding the story “My new roommate” by Hafsa Faisal (YW, March 30). I liked the story firstly because it talked about a serious situation, but it was explained in a very light tone; secondly, the writer conveyed a very grave message of keeping one’s surroundings always neat and clean so as not to allow any pests and germs to enter our living space.

I want to mention that this story made me realise the importance of cleanliness of our surroundings and why we should be careful with throwing food wrappers and scrapes in the wastebins. Now, I make sure to throw them in the bin instead of leaving them lying around.
