Mashkel marchers threaten hunger strike

QUETTA: Leader of the Mashkel long march Mir Jiand Khan Reki has said people, traders, business community and members of civil society marched to Quetta to convey the grievances and difficulties faced by the people due to the closure of two crossing points at the Pakistan-Iran border.

“If our demands are not accepted and the government fails to resolve the important issue, the protesters will set up a hunger strike camp in the Red Zone,” he said at a press conference alongside MNA Usman Badini, MPA Mir Zabit Ali Reki, and former senator Sanaullah Baloch, on Saturday.

“To provide employment opportunities and a means of livelihood for the local people of Mashkel and surrounding areas, the Maza Sar crossing and Zero points must be opened and made operational for border trade,” he added.

The representatives of political parties said they will fully support the demands of the Mashkel long march participants at every forum.
