Kundi seeks report on Dir student’s death

PESHAWAR/LOWER DIR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has sought a detailed report into the death of a student of the University of Malakand.

Musa Khan, a student of the university’s journalism department, died in a road accident on Thursday night after he was allegedly expelled from the hostel for bringing Rabab [a musical instrument] there, according to his friends.

The students also claimed they were not being allowed by the varsity administration to hold cultural activities.

On the other hand, the university administration refuted the allegations and said that Musa Khan along with other students were rusticated and issued show-cause notices for leaving the hostel without permission and do one-wheeling.

Varsity’s chief proctor Dr Aziz said that Musa Khan and other students were residing in the hostel illegally as they had already been suspended and issued show-cause notices.

He claimed that there was no issue regarding bringing Rabab to the hostel.

A letter, issued from the governor’s office on Friday, read that the governor had taken notice of the news circulating on social media regarding the student’s tragic death and had sought a comprehensive report on the matter, including the circumstance leading to his untimely death as well as the action taken by the university both, prior and following the unfortunate incident.

Meanwhile, in another letter issued on the same day, the governor sought a comprehensive report following news circulating on social media regarding altercation between students of the economics department of the University of Peshawar.

The governor sought both the reports from the vice-chancellors of the universities by Monday.
