Ex-constable gets RI for killing nephew

OKARA: An additional district and sessions judge on Monday handed down rigorous imprisonment along with fine to a former constable and acquitted his son by giving him the benefit of the doubt in a murder case at Muzaffar colony near village 5/4L.

In June 2020, constable Syed Fazeelat along with his son Ahsan Shah had allegedly murdered his nephew Faizan Shah over a marriage dispute.

Faizan Shah’s nikah was solemnised with the daughter of Fazeelat who later avoided rukhsati. Faizan, however, managed to take his wife from his uncle’s house. Fazeelat nurtured a grudge and shot his nephew dead.

On Monday, judge Malik Naeem Shaukat handed down RI along with Rs0.5m fine to be paid to legal heirs of Faizan as compensation. In case of default, he will undergo six-month imprisonment.

The court acquitted Ahsan by giving him the benefit of the doubt.
