Suspect injured in shootout with police

ISLAMABAD: A suspect was injured during an encounter with the capital police on Monday, police claimed.

PRO for the police Taqi Jawad when contacted confirmed that Inspector General of Police Islamabad Syed Nasir Ali Rizvi had directed the police officials to retaliate if they came under the suspects’ fire by .

The incident took place on the I.J.P Road, located in the Sabzi Mandi police station in the morning, but the case could not be registered till 9pm. Besides, the police also kept the details ogf the incident.

However, a police officer said that a police team in the area of Sabzi Mandi intercepted riders of a motorcycle.

On suspicion the police officials opened fire on the riders and as a result one of them sustained injuries and fell on road, he added.

Later the injured was shifted to hospital for medical assistance.

The PRO were approached multiple time for version and identification of the suspect but he refused to share the details of the suspect and the nature of bullet injury he sustained. However, around 8:30pm he claimed that a police official also sustained minor injury during the encounter.

The PRO said so far FIR is yet to be registered and what will be the content of the FIR he reproduces it as his version later.

Later in a message at 9:03pm, the PRO claimed that two constables were injured in the incident, Fahad Amin sustained a bullet injury in his leg, while Abdul Kareem sustained a bullet graze wound in his chest.
