LAHORE: The Punjab Chief Minister, Mr Mohammad Haneef Ramay, today [June 12] described as incomprehensible the “attitude of threatening strike” … by some elements at the very moment when Prime Minister Bhutto was in consultation with religious and political leaders to find a long-term solution [to] the Rabwah problem. In a speech … the Chief Minister appealed to the people and Ulema not to allow this sensitive issue to become a toy in the hand of opportunists and to maintain the atmosphere of peace which was necessary for its solution. — News agencies

[Meanwhile,] in deference to the wishes of the people of various regions to have more programmes in the regional languages, Maulana Kausar Niazi, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, has directed that television programmes in the regional languages should be increased. … Maulana Kausar Niazi said that advisory boards should be set up for every radio and television station in the country. These advisory boards should consist of leading figures in the literary, social and cultural fields of the region concerned and officials of the provincial Government concerned, he added.
