PTI workers stage protests for release of Imran, others

BAJAUR/MOHMAND: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf workers on Friday staged demonstrations demanding early release of the party’s founding chairman Imran Khan and other incarcerated leaders.

Scores of party workers from different areas of Bajaur attended the demonstration held in the Raghagan Bazaar.

The participants led by PTI local MPA Anwarzeb Khan marched from different places before gathering at the main bazaar.

The protesters, who were holding party flags and the founding chairman’s photos, chanted slogans in the support of Imran Khan and other detained leaders.

Addressing the gathering, Anwarzeb and other speakers said the demonstration was arranged on the call of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to raise voice against the “illegal detention of Imran and other party leaders”.

They called for the early release of Imran, his wife Bushra Bibi and other party leaders from jails.

The participants also criticised the federal government for its plan to impose taxes in the Malakand division and the tribal districts, and said they would not let the government do so.

The protesters’ leaders said they would show strong resistance if any ‘anti-people’ steps were taken.

The speakers also rejected the federal budget, saying it contained nothing for welfare of common people.

In Mohamnd, PTI workers led by MNA Sajid Khan Mohmand held a demonstration in Ghalanai on Friday to push for release of Imran Khan.

MPA Malik Mehboob Sher and chairman Lower Mohmand Naveed Ahmed Mohmand also participated in the demonstration.

The PTI workers gathered at the press club after marching through the Ghalanai Bazaar.

Addressing the protesters, MNA Sajid Khan said the party workers would continue agitating till release of Imran Khan from jail.
