Terrorism charges dropped against Sahiwal hospital guards

SAHIWAL: Special Judge of the Anti-Terrorism Court Ziaullah Khan dropped terrorism-related charges against three daily-wage security guards of the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital. Guards Muhammad Imran, Ihsan Ali, and Sobia were instead sent to judicial remand for 14 days. They will be presented in court on June 29.

The guards were arrested following a complaint about a fire incident at the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital. Complainant Hasssam, of Barkat Town, approached Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz during her visit to the hospital a couple of days ago.

The chief minister visited the hospital after the fire incident that resulted in the deaths of 11 children. The complainant accused the three guards of accepting a bribe to allow his entry into the pediatric ward.

The guards were booked under Section 71(b) of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997, and Pakistan Penal Code sections 384, 506, and 34 by Farid Town police. The case is ongoing.
