Man booked for attempted rape

GUJAR KHAN: An armed man allegedly attempted to rape a 20-year-old girl besides subjecting her mother to torture in Diali village situated in the limits of Sohawa police station on Tuesday.

According to the details, the case was registered on the complaint of the victim’s brother on Thursday after he narrated to the police on Wednesday that his mother and younger sister were alone at home on Tuesday night and he was out of the city.

When he returned home on Wednesday, his sister and mother were under treatment in the emergency ward of the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ) Sohawa.

He said that he was then informed by his mother that an armed man entered their house and took his sister to a room on gunpoint and attempted to rape her. He added that when his mother and younger brother tired to save his sister, he threatened to open fire on them and laterseriously injured his mother by attacking with the cleaver.

The complainant while citing his mother further added that their neighbours also gathered after hearing their screams forcing the culprit to flee.

He added that his sister later divulged to his mother that the suspect had earlier sexually abused her multiple times and had warned to kill her if she ever disclosed the rape to police or her family. After carrying out the medical examination of the victims, police have registered a case against the suspect under multiple sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) including 376i, 324, and 452.

The police sources said that the suspect could not be arrested so far and raid were bring carried out to apprehend him.

Five held for making Iesco worker hostage

Five suspects were taken into custody by Gujar Khan police on Thursday for allegedly making an Iesco employee hostage and subjecting him to torture after he visited the location to ascertain the complaint of electricity theft.

According to the details, a case was registered on the complaint of Javed Bashir, a resident of Sohawa, who worked as an employee in the Sohawa sub-division of the Islamabad Electricity Supply Company (Iesco) on Sunday.

In his complaint, the victim stated that he had visited a house situated in Jand Gujran village on the direction of Sub-divisional Officer (SDO), Raja Usman, after he received a complaint about electricity theft.
