Model schools, colleges renovation assigned to govt depts

ISLAMABAD: After the summer vacation, students of Islamabad model schools and colleges will find a different environment to their attraction as their renovated buildings will have gyms and a number of other facilities.

Moreover, the government is going to start refresher courses for teachers to ensure that they (teachers) involve the students in education, and syllabus will be prepared as per their interests. This was stated by Islamabad Model School for Boys (IMCB) I-8/3 PrincipalProf Shahid Mehmood Abbasi while talking to Dawn.

“The Secretary Education Muhayyudin Wani has contacted different departments and organisations to renovate some of the educational institutions of Islamabad such as Customs Department has taken a school in Sector G-9. while Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) has been given IMCB I-8/3,” he said.

“I have 1900 students, out of which 1300 are in the morning shift and 600 are in the evening shift. Renovation is being done and will be completed before the summer vacation which will culminate on July 31. I am sure students will be attracted towards the facilities which were, in the past, only available in the private schools and it will develop their interest in studies,” Prof Abbasi said.

According to the details, the initiative aims to address the lack of facilities within the college including establishment of a new computer lab, fully equipped with 40 state-of-the-art computers, establishment of seven smart classrooms to promote digitalisation in education, upgradation of all science labs with modern equipment, establishment of a fully equipped infirmary for student health care and installation of a filtration plant to ensure clean drinking water.

Moreover, renovation of the college auditorium, upgrading of washroom facilities with fixation of tiles, establishment of a state-of-the-art library, repainting of all classrooms, face-lifting of the college, acquisition of colourful furniture for the junior section, establishment of an open gym for students fitness, renovation of basketball court and to increase sports facilities, revamping of the college cafeteria and construction of a waiting area for parents and students at the reception are also part of the project.

The faculty members have extended their gratitude to the Secretary Education Muhayyudin Wani and FBISEChairman Junaid Akhlaq for spearheading the initiative.

Prof Abbasi said that IMCB I-8/3 has junior and senior sections and houses students from nursery to intermediate.

“These endeavours are poised to provide an exceptional learning environment. Upon completion, this institution can compete with any private institution in the vicinity. It will also create a conducive study environment for students,” he said.
