Free WiFi available at 100 more points in Lahore
LAHORE: The Punjab government has launches ‘Free WiFi’ services at additional 100 points in the city.
Th Punjab Safe City Authority on Thursday activated and enhanced the free WiFi service from 100 to 200 points. Free WiFi service has been started in Manga Mandi, Multan Road, Bund Road, Chung, Shahpur Kanjran, Sundar, Valencia, Maraka and in other areas.
Under the digital Punjab vision, police and family members can be contacted in an emergency situation. Women Safety App, Punjab Police App and WhatsApp can be used through free WiFi service. The police and family members can be contacted via WhatsApp call or message through free WiFi service.
The range of every free WiFi device is up to 300 feet from the relevant point in Lahore. Different applications can be downloaded through this service. This service is not meant for Facebook, YouTube, TikTok and other entertainment apps.
Meanwhile, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari told a presser that for the first time in the history of the province, the excess fare collected by the transporters was paid back to passengers. An amount of Rs1.4m was returned to the passengers while a fine of Rs2.7m was imposed on the transporters charging more than the official rate.
Ms Bokhari said during the Eid days 1.8m tonnes of offal was lifted from all over Punjab and more than 55,000 sanitary workers remained continuously active in their duties. She said that during the Eid days attention was not only focused on cleanliness but prevention of overcharging in transport fares was also ensured.
