Many city areas receive drizzle
KARACHI: Parts of the city received drizzle on Friday evening, bringing some respite for Karachiites from the hot and humid weather conditions prevailing for the past several weeks.
According to the Met department, the areas where the drizzle was recorded included Saddar, Lines Area, Airport, Kala Pul, Qayyumabad, Musharraf Colony, Baldia Town, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, North Karachi, Surjani Town, Gulshan-i-Maymar and Bahria Town.
“It was like passing showers as there were reports of drizzle for a few seconds in many areas,” said Chief Meteorologist Dr S. Sarfaraz.
He added that temperature in Karachi was expected to go up after a day.
“There is slight circulation over the sea these days, influencing weather in Karachi. But, this would end in a day or two. The city is likely to experience the monsoon from July 4-5 onwards...prior to that the weather is expected to be hot and humid,” he said.
The maximum temperature recorded on Friday was 38.6 degrees Celsius with 65 per cent relative humidity.
The Met department has forecast hot and humid weather with chances of isolated dust/thunderstorm-light rain on the outskirts of the city in the afternoon/night.
The maximum temperature is expected to range between 36-38°C.
