From The Past Pages Of Dawn: 1974: Fifty Years Ago: Guideline for unity

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak this afternoon [June 21] opened the fifth Islamic Foreign Ministers Conference with a stirring call for turning “our” words … into concrete results to make the aim of Islamic unity a reality. Mr Razak declared that because of unity among Muslims … a new Islamic force has emerged in the world which will have far-reaching consequences on the course of history. He said in unity lies strength of Islamic countries. He appealed that this newly-achieved unity must be preserved … otherwise the dream of a world Islamic community may never be realised.

[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies from Beirut,] Prime Minister Takieddin Solh said last night [June 20] Lebanon was considering lodging a complaint with the UN Security Council on the latest Israeli air raids on Palestinian refugee camps in which at least 27 persons have been killed. … The raids were an indication of Israel’s determination to follow the path of mass terrorism, without distinction between man, woman and child, to kill the spirit of resistance among Palestinian people, he said.
