Pakistan team set to compete in Asian snooker

KARACHI: Pakistan’s national team is set to participate in the Asian Snooker Championship starting in Riyadh next week.

The team includes some of the country’s top talent, with Ahsan Ramzan leading the charge as the defending champion in the U-21 category of the championship starting on June 26.

Ahsan, 18, won the title last year in Tehran, Iran, and will be looking to retain his crown. “I had a good training camp and I am in good touch for the [Asian] tournament,” said Ahsan, who won the 2022 world amateur championship, in a video message.

Mohammad Hasnain Akhtar and Hamza Ilyas will also represent Pakistan in the U-21 event while Awaisullah Munir and Asjad Iqbal will team up in the team championship.

Asjad, the current national champion, and Awaisullah will also participate in the 6-red event.

Awaisullah,30, was the finalist in the ACBS Asian Championship final held in Doha in February this year.

All the players have arrived in Karachi for the training camp at the NBP sports Complex.
