Over 20 police recruits robbed by gang near Tangwani

SUKKUR: More than 20 police recruits travelling in a van were robbed by a gang of dacoits along the Tangwani-Ghouspur link road within the limits of the Jamal police station of Kandhkot-Kashmore district on Sunday.

Reports from the area suggested that the gang intercepted the van and held all its occupants at gunpoint before depriving each of the riders of their belongings, including uniforms.

The victims, who were on their way to Sakrand for training, lost their cash, mobile phones, wrist watches and other items of personal use to the dacoits.

Local reporters said that after committing the robbery, the gangsters drove away in the direction of the nearby riverine area without being checked by the area police.

Some of the victims identified themselves as Abdul Ghaffar Jakhrani, Abdul Haq Golo, Fayyaz Hussain, Amjad Noonari and Shah Murad.

No police party had reached the crime scene till late in the evening despite having been informed of the incident.
