From The Past Pages Of Dawn: 1974: Fifty Years Ago: Shariat in Baluchistan

QUETTA: The Baluchistan Government has sought approval of the Federal Government to enforce Shariat law in the province. This was stated by the Provincial Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Industries and Local Government, while speaking during the general discussion on the budget in the Baluchistan Assembly today [June 24].

He said that the Provincial Government had sent a proposal based on the recommendations of the Law Commission to Islamabad and added that if the Federal Government gave its approval Shariat law in Baluchistan would be introduced in a phased programme.
