POWER OUTAGES

POWER OUTAGES: The residents of Gulshan-i-Kaneez and its surrounding areas up to KDA Scheme 33 and Gulzar-i-Hijri have been suffering in the scorching heat due to power outages lasting up to five hours every day. The people are in a miserable condition despite paying their bills timely and regularly. K-Electric (KE) must stop this evil game of loadshedding and ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity to these areas.

UNPAID INTERNSHIP: Thousands of candidates apply for summer internship programmes to gain experience and exposure in their respective fields. However, they do not get a remuneration during this time despite working relentlessly and diligently. All corporate entities must provide a reasonable sum of money to their respective interns. The exploitation of candidates in the form of unpaid internships should stop.

EXPLOITED CITIZENS: The fact that the people who pay their taxes regularly get nothing in return. Taxes on salary, utility bills and purchases reflect the parasitic nature of the taxation system. I feel exploited as my hard-earned money is deducted to fill the coffers of the elite, and, in return, I get dilapidated roads, poor health and education services, insecurity and much more. Why would anybody young want to live in this country when better life choices are available elsewhere with the same amount of hard work?

MEANINGLESS ADVERTS: While travelling on Sharea Faisal a few days after Eidul Azha, I saw more than a dozen billboards and hoardings installed on pedestrian bridges by a political party seeking donation of hides of sacrificial animals. For me, these advertisements naturally made no sense beyond the third, and last, day of Eid. All such posters, banners and hoardings must be removed without any further delay.
