SBCA demolishes building that ‘tilted dangerously’
KARACHI: The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) on Thursday demolished a residential building in Baldia Town that was “facing threat of collapse” after a pillar of the multi-storey structure “tilted dangerously”.
On the instruction of SBCA director general Abdul Rasheed Solangi, a FIR was also lodged against the owner and contractor of the building for the substandard designing of the property by using low-quality material in the construction.
“SBCA DG Solangi himself visited the affected building in Gulshan-i-Mazdoor of Baldia Town after receiving complaints about the vulnerable structure,” said a statement. It said the DG based on a report submitted by the technical committee ordered the demolition of the building to prevent any further risk to the residents.
