PESHAWAR: The provincial government has asked the Khyber Medical University (KMU) to start preparations for holding the Medical Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT 2024-25) in a transparent manner.
Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry issued the directives while chairing a meeting on Saturday to discuss the preparations for the test by KMU, according to a press release.
KMU Vice-Chancellor Prof Ziaul Haq, additional chief secretary (home) Mohammad Abid Majeed, secretaries of higher education and health departments and commissioners of Peshawar, Mardan, Malakand, Hazara, Kohat and DI Khan were also in attendance.
On the occasion, Mr Majeed and Prof Haq briefed the participants about the preparations for MDCAT 2024-25.
The chief secretary praised the KMU administration over the successful conduct of last year’s MDCAT test and assured similar support for the upcoming test.
The provincial cabinet has declared KMU as the admitting university for the session 2024-25 and onwards. KMU will conduct centralised MDCAT at the provincial level and make centralised admissions in all public and private sector medical/dental colleges in the province.
Last year, KMU conducted MDCAT on November 26 2023.
KMU vice-chancellor said that Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur and his cabinet had assured full cooperation to ensure transparency in the conduct of the test like last year. He said that the date of MDCAT would be decided by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council.
