Four held for cutting woman’s nose eight months after incident in Dera Ghazi Khan
DERA GHAZI KHAN: Police on Sunday arrested the four men who had cut the nose of a woman some eight months ago allegedly for refusing to have relations with them, making a video of the gory incident occurring in Shah Saddardin area of DG Khan district.
As per local sources, prime suspect, Zafar Lashari and three others had been forcing a woman, Salmi, to have relations with them, but she refused.
The suspect then cut the nose of the woman with a knife and recorded the act with a mobile phone camera.
In the video clip available with Dawn, the suspect could be scene cutting the woman’s nose.
The sources say that the police had taken no action against the culprits on the pretext that no complaint was filed of the incident.
However, the National Commission of Human Rights of Pakistan took notice of the incident and sought a report from DG Khan District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Ali, after surfacing of the video clip of the episode on social media. The DPO ordered arrest of the suspects, including Zafar Lashari, Safdar and two others.
Accordingly, Shah Saddardin police, on the complaint of the victim’s sister, Saharan Bibi, arrested the suspects and registered a cases under sections 334, 511 and 354 of Pakistan Penal Code.
Speaking to Dawn, the DPO confirmed that police have arrested the suspects involved in the inhuman act.
