Shop manager shot dead by customer

SAHIWAL: Manager of a shop offering electronics on installments was allegedly shot dead by a customer in Liaquat Chowk area on Sunday.

As per police, Abu Baker, a resident of Jhaal Road, had bought some electronic devices on installments from a shop at Liaquat Chowk last year, but had not been paying the installments regularly.

On Sunday, the shop manager, Attas Cheema and Abu Baker exchanged hot words over delayed installments, after which the latter left.

Later, Abu Bakar returned to the shop along with an unidentified man and twice shot the manager in the chest, leaving him critically injured.

He was shifted to the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

RPO Mahboob Rasheed, took notice of the killing and directed district police officer to arrest the suspect.

The DPO has formed special teams which are conducting raids to arrest the suspect.

UPLIFT SCHEMES: Punjab government has approved 58 mega development schemes for to be completed at a cost of Rs58.64 billion in the budget of the fiscal year 2024-25 for Sahiwal division.

Commissioner Shoaib Iqbal told Dawn that most of these schemes are of road construction, upgrade of existing educational, health and sports facilities.

He says Rs10.41bn, Rs21.75bn and Rs16.47bn would be spent on 19, 26 and 13 development schemes of Sahiwal, Okara and Pakpattan districts, respectively.
