Elderly man robbed by women swindlers

RAWALPINDI: An elderly man, Sheikh Khurshid Ahmad, residing on Race Course Road was deprived of gold jewellry worth Rs 2.8 million by two unidentified women posing as housemaids on Monday.

According to the police complaint, the incident took place when Ahmad answered a knock at his door to the impersonating housemaids. He hired them, and they left after completing their work.

Ahmad stated in the FIR that the two women returned on Friday as he left for the mosque to offer Jumma prayer. During his absence, the women stole gold jewellry, including four gold bangles, gold rings, earrings, diamond ring and other valuables totalling Rs 2.8 million and escaped. Police have launched an investigation into the theft after a complaint was lodged by the victim.

In a separate incident, Akbar Khan, a resident of Cantt View colony reported receiving a threatening phone call demanding Rs1.2 million.

Police said the victim lodged an FIR stating that the caller threatened to kill if he failed to meet his demand. The culprit identified himself as Sadber Khan doing business in Pirwadhai, claimed he knew Khan and threatened to kill if he failed to meet his demand of paying Rs 1.2 million.
