Girls from Talagang, Fatehjang top SSC annual exam

RAWALPINDI: Girl students from Talagang and Fatehjang grabbed the three top positionsin the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) annual examination 2024.

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi announcedthe names of the position holders on Monday. However, the results of other students will be announcedon Tuesday (today) at a function to be held at Fatima Jinnah Women University.

In 2019, the then PTI government had stopped all boards from announcing the top three positions on the ground that it hurt the students who could not clinch positions with a few marks.

However, BISE Rawalpindi spokesman Arslan Cheema told Dawn that the policy had now been changed and the government decided to encourage students who performed better so that others could be motivated to work hard.

He said that last year boards across the province did not announce the names of top three position holders, but later the caretaker government held a function at the Chief Minister House to award the position holders.

Now, he said, the names of the position holders have been announced and given awards. The first and second positions were clinched by two students from Talagang while the third position was grabbed by a student from Fatehjang.

According to the results, Aqsa Noor (roll number 910243) of Punjab Secondary School for Girls Talagang bagged the overall firstposition by scoring 1179 marks and Tayyaba Arif (roll number 909664) of Fauji Foundation Model Girls Secondary School Talagang clinched second position with 1178 marks. Areeba Asif (roll number 942609) of Zammrud Memorial Girls Secondary School Fatehjang remained third with 1176 marks.

In general group for boys, three madressah students clinched the top three positions. Humayoun Taj (roll number 158789), a private student from Bakery Chowk Rawalpindi, got firstposition by securing 1049 marks, Zohaib Imran (roll number 114215) of Darul Uloom Mohammadiya Rizvia Pind Dadan Khan clinched the second position scoring 1017 marks while Jawad Mehmood Malik (roll number 114232) from Darul Uloom Mohammadiya Rizvia Pind Dadan Khan remained third with 1007 marks.

In general science group, two boys shared the first position. Mohammad Ayan Iqbal (roll number 147942) of Dare Arqam Secondary Boys School Gujar Khan and Hassan Raza (roll number 103509) of Cadet College Hassanabdal remained firstwith 1170 marks each and Mohammad Abdul Rehman (roll Number 108819) from Government High School, Saghar Talagang, clinched the second position with 1169 marks. Mohammad Wasil Minaam (roll Number 137224) secured the third position with 1068 marks.

In the general group for girls, Iqrah Sulman (roll number 951392) of Government Girls High School Sanghori, Gujar Khan, stood firstwith 1105 marks, Laiba Urooj (roll number 922983) of Government Girls High School Sukho Rawalpindi second with 1103 marks while the third position was grabbed by Naima Farooqui (roll number 929074) of Iqra Hufaaz Secondary School Afandi Colony Rawalpindi with 1087 marks.
